Lisa Bowman

Ms. Bowman is responsible for leading United Way Worldwide’s (UWW) marketing and communications team. The UWW marketing and communications team is responsible for the creation, development and implementation of United Way’s global marketing strategies highlighting the organization’s image and heritage to galvanize engagement of donors, advocates, volunteers and partner relationships in communities around the world. Ms. Bowman oversees brand, marketing and strategic communications including brand innovation, creative development, media relations, affinity groups and strategic alliances such as the famed NFL and United Way partnership.
With more than 20 years of experience in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications initiatives in the transportation, retail, dot-com, and apparel sectors, Ms. Bowman joined United Way Worldwide from The UPS Foundation where as part of her $80M social investment portfolio, she also oversaw the strategy and execution of the transportation company’s United Way campaign. During her tenure managing the campaign, which touched over 300,000 employees, Ms. Bowman’s results included a ground-breaking contribution of nearly $64M in 2014 and an 80 percent growth rate in Alexis de Tocqueville donors.
Ms. Bowman began her career with UPS in 2000 as Vice President of Market Development for UPS eVentures, the transportation company’s dot-com incubator. She subsequently led a number of ground breaking marketing initiatives for the company including the re-branding of The UPS Store network and development of UPS Direct-to Door, a UPS delivered co-op media product. In 2010, Ms. Bowman moved from UPS’s marketing organization to The UPS Foundation. Prior to joining UPS, Ms. Bowman held a variety of senior level marketing roles for USWeb/CKS where she secured UPS as a client, Fabric.com, recently acquired by Amazon, and Ambitions, a private label manufacturer of womens’ ready-to-wear.
Lisa was the 2017 American Marketing Association’s Non-Profit Marketer of the Year and has also been the recipient of a Harvey Communications Measurement Award and Frontstream’s 2014 Campaign Administrator of the Year.
Lisa holds a B.A. in Marketing from Columbia College and a certification in Applied Project Management from Boston University in addition to executive education at Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business.
Ms. Bowman serves on the board of the American Jewish Committee Southeast region, and has served as both the chairperson and a board member of United Way’s Global Corporate Leaders Advisory Council.
Ms. Bowman resides in Atlanta with her husband Bill and their Alaskan Klee Kai, Mojo, who has appeared in several episodes of Animal Planet’s “Teacher’s Pet”.
